PETALING JAYA:
Some 33,500 residents from 67 neighbourhoods in Air Itam, Farlim, and Paya Terubong on Penang Island will experience water cuts for 18 hours, beginning Friday night, the state’s concessionaire says.

The Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) said the scheduled disruptions, which will begin at 9pm on Friday, are linked to a pipeline diversion project to accommodate state flood mitigation works along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway.

“Consumers in the affected areas are advised to store sufficient water for use during the scheduled water supply interruption,” PBAPP CEO K Pathmanathan said in a statement.

He apologised for the water cuts, which are expected to end at noon on Saturday, but said they were necessary to facilitate the project.

Updates on the water cuts will be available on PBAPP’s Facebook page or through its 24-hour call centre at 04-2558255.
