Pahang police chief Yahaya Othman said they are tracking down the 37-year-old man, who resides in the district, to facilitate their investigation.
He said the suspect, who has a criminal record, was not related to the victim, who was a food seller.
The suspect had ordered food from the woman and had gone to the scene to pay her cash on delivery, he said.
“Our initial investigation revealed that the woman’s jewellery was missing and there were signs of injury on her body,” he said.
Yesterday, Bernama reported that the 37-year-old victim was found dead by the riverbank at around noon and an investigation found signs of foul play on the body.
