The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested a prosecution witness in Johor for allegedly giving false testimony in court.

Berita Harian quoted a MACC source as saying that the suspect, a 35-year-old contractor, was detained by the agency at its Mersing office at around 9pm yesterday.

The suspect was the 12th prosecution witness in a corruption trial presided over by Johor Bahru sessions court judge Ahmad Kamal Arifin Ismail.

His testimony in court is said to have differed from the statement he gave MACC officers in 2022 and 2024 in relation to the case.

Johor MACC chief Azmi Alias confirmed the arrest.
