Bernama reported General Operations Force (GOF) southeast brigade commander Nik Ros Azhan Nik Ab Hamid as saying a team carried out the arrest and seizures at 9am yesterday.
He said the factory was found to have been operating without a valid licence from the Kelantan forestry department.
“A total of 749 pieces of sawn timber, nine round logs of various sizes and several machines were found in the factory,” he said today.
Nik Ros said the 52-year-old man is believed to have sold all the processed timber to the local market.
He said the case is being investigated under Section 3(2) of the Wood-Based Industry Enactment 1985.
The suspect and the seized goods were handed over to the Pengkalan Kubor police station and state forestry department.
In another case, PGA personnel arrested a man suspected of being involved in the shipment of illegally obtained timber, worth RM650,000, during an operation in Kuala Jambu, Tumpat, on Feb 7.
Nik Ros said the 52-year-old suspect was arrested while driving a lorry carrying 10 logs of various species for sale locally.
