Lorry driver dies in WCE crash after being trapped for nearly 2 hours

The 33-year-old driver was conscious during an operation to extract him from the vehicle but later died at the scene from his injuries.

SHAH ALAM:
The 33-year-old driver of a container lorry died after being trapped for nearly two hours after his vehicle skidded and overturned on the West Coast Expressway (WCE) heading towards the Shah Alam Expressway early this morning.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said they were informed of the incident at 3.04am.

“A preliminary report from the operations commander states that the driver was pinned in the vehicle and was conscious (during the rescue operation though he was injured).

“Although we managed to extract him from the vehicle at about 5.33am, he was later confirmed dead by a medical officer,” he said in a statement.
