Peak hour restrictions for heavy vehicles to be expanded from Feb 19

Four expressways entering and exiting Kuala Lumpur will be affected.

The Elite highway stretching between Shah Alam and Bandar Saujana Putra will be closed to Class 2 vehicles with two axles and six wheels, and Class 3 vehicles with three or more axles during peak hours from Mondays to Fridays.

Heavy vehicle movement restrictions during peak hours will be expanded to selected highways entering and exiting Kuala Lumpur from Feb 19, says the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM).

The authority said the selected highways are the North-South Expressway (NSE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), North-South Expressway Central Link (Elite) and Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE).

The peak hours are from 6.30am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 7.30pm throughout Monday to Friday, it said in a statement today.

LLM said the affected stretches are:

  • NSE: Sungai Buloh-Bukit Lanjan (both directions);
  • NKVE: Shah Alam-Jalan Duta (both directions);
  • Elite: Shah Alam-Bandar Saujana Putra (both directions); and
  • DUKE: Full stretch.

The restriction will affect Class 2 vehicles with two axles and six wheels, and Class 3 vehicles with three or more axles.

The restriction will not apply to buses and heavy vehicles involved in cleaning, waste disposal and domestic waste delivery, emergency and enforcement services, and highway maintenance works.
