PETALING JAYA:
A couple suspected of killing a senior citizen in Skudai, Johor, were arrested last night.

Johor Bahru North police chief Balveer Singh Mahindar said the 51-year-old man and 58-year-old woman were arrested after they had their statements recorded, which police found to be dubious.

He said one of the suspects had a criminal record related to a drug offence.

Police also seized two handphones, a pillow and two receipts from a pawn shop.

The suspects, who have been remanded for seven days, are being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Balveer said the 79-year-old female victim was found lying in the hall and covered with batik cloth.

A preliminary investigation found that several items belonging to the victim were missing and believed to have been stolen by the suspects.
