PETALING JAYA:
An MCA youth leader has lodged a police report against two social media influencers for allegedly inciting racial tensions by wrongly translating a Chinese phrase used in a posting.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Beruas MCA Youth chief Ling Jin Shean named both the influencers in the report at the Manjung police station in Lumut, Perak, yesterday.

He claimed that the duo had intentionally mistranslated a Chinese phrase used in a Facebook post by a user as “Melayu gila” (crazy Malay) in their respective social media posts.

Ling asserted that the original phrase did not carry such a meaning and accused the influencers of distorting its interpretation to stoke racial discord.

In his police report, he called for an investigation under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 505(c) of the Penal Code.
