PETALING JAYA: Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s account on X has been hacked and is promoting a purported cryptocurrency on the Solana blockchain platform.
An aide to the former prime minister confirmed that his X account had been hacked.
“That’s right, his account was hacked,” Adam Mukhriz Muhayeddin said in a WhatsApp group for the media.
A post shared on Mahathir’s X account said Malaysia’s official cryptocurrency “$MALAYSIA” is now live on Solana.
“It is an honor for us to demonstrate Malaysia’s power on the global crypto network!” the post read.
The post has since been removed, an FMT check showed.
