Unemployed man gets 6 months’ jail for punching cop

PETALING JAYA:
An unemployed man was sentenced to six months in jail after pleading guilty to punching a police corporal last week.

Berita Harian reported Rosidi Muhamed, 37, as making his plea after the charge was read out before judge Wan Suhaila Mohd in the Kemaman sessions court.

He was charged with committing the offence against a 38-year-old public servant at the Kemaman magistrates’ court at 12.45pm on Jan 22.

Rosidi was charged under Section 353 of the Penal Code for assaulting a public servant, which is punishable by imprisonment for up to two years or a fine.

The case was handled by deputy public prosecutor Lim Zhan Yi and prosecuting officer Afif Amin, while Rosidi was unrepresented.
