PETALING JAYA:
Mixue Malaysia has issued an apology following concerns over halal compliance at one of its outlets which arose after the use of garbage bags with questionable labels.

The ice-cream and beverage chain said that the garbage bags, purchased online, had come in packaging with wording that “could cause confusion”.

It added that the bags were used solely for waste disposal and were not involved in the preparation of food.

“We take this issue very seriously,” the company said in a statement.

Mixue said it had taken measures to address the matter, including through a special cleaning process at the affected outlet to ensure cleanliness and compliance with halal standards.

“The use of the problematic garbage bags has been discontinued, and purchasing procedures are under review to prevent a recurrence,” it added.

The company also reassured customers that the raw materials used in its products were sourced from halal-certified suppliers and met strict quality standards.

Mixue apologised for the misunderstanding and expressed gratitude for the public’s continued support and trust.
