In a Facebook post, Razman acknowledged the factual error he made in a speech, that has since gone viral on social media.
“I admit that Hannah has no connection to any corporate figure or the YTL group. It was a slip of the tongue.
“I express my regret and apologise to Hannah, YTL, and any party affected or disturbed by my remarks,” he said.
Earlier, Hannah hit out at Razman, the Gunong Semanggol assemblyman, for claiming that she was the “daughter of a rich man” and a “daughter of YTL”.
Razman also expressed his disappointment over the coverage of his speech, saying the media had deliberately focussed on the 10-second part of his speech referencing Hannah without reporting on the other parts or broader issues.
He explained that the speech was made as part of a three-day event in Perak involving the Islamic party’s three wings and over 5,000 attendees.
The Segambut MP, in slamming Razman earlier, said PAS needs to know that “not all Yeohs are related”.
YTL was founded by the late Yeoh Tiong Lay as a construction company in 1955. It became one of Malaysia’s largest conglomerates, involved in various sectors, including utilities, hotels, telecommunications, and property development. His son Francis is the executive chairman of YTL Corporation.
Hannah’s private secretary, Nor Miswary Ramli, also criticised Razman, likening his claim to that of Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura Muhammad, who had said DAP veterans Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, and Teresa Kok were linked to the late Communist Party of Malaya leader Chin Peng.
Mastura, also of PAS, was ordered by the High Court to pay the DAP trio a total of RM750,000 in damages for defamation.
