PETALING JAYA: Former treasury secretary-general Sheriff Kassim was found at a shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur last night, less than an hour after being reported missing.
Brickfields police chief Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said Sheriff, a member of the G25 group of prominent civil servants, was found at around 9.30pm, Sinar Harian reported.
Sheriff’s family had reported the 85-year-old missing at 8.40pm.
“He was found by his friends who believed he had forgotten his way home,” Ku Mashariman was quoted as saying.
It was earlier reported that Sheriff had gone missing after leaving his house.
Sheriff served as the treasury secretary-general from 1991 to 1993. He retired from the civil service in 1994.
