Abdul Asis Rishad Khan from Kinabatangan and Afrizan Jamil from Semporna were among three Sabahans appointed to a “management bureau”.
However, in separate statements, they said no specific roles were spelt out. They said it was important for them to be appointed to significant roles to ensure that they serve the party to the best of their ability.
“Remaining as excos without a specific portfolio gives us the opportunity and space to serve the party more effectively.
“It also allows us to focus on strengthening Sabah Bersatu as we prepare for the next general and state elections, which will be held soon,” they said.
Their resignations came a week after Wan Meor Safwat Naqiuddin Shamsudin resigned as the wing’s professional and volunteer bureau chief, citing disagreements in views with the youth wing’s head, Hilman Idham.
Wan Meor said their disagreement concerned the administrative structure of the youth wing.
He, too, said he would remain an exco member without a designated portfolio.
All three were appointed to the positions during Bersatu Youth’s annual general assembly on Nov 29 last year.
