Abang Johari said the acquisition was finalised following a consensus on asset valuations reached between the Sarawak government and Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG).
“This means we are taking over, and soon, there will be a signing (ceremony),” Dayak Daily quoted him as saying after an event in Kuching today.
“It will happen within a month before Ramadan. Possibly in Kuching.”
When asked about the airline’s new name, Abang Johari said it would be revealed after the signing ceremony.
Last month, Abang Johari said the final process of Sarawak’s takeover of MASwings was expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025.
He said the process, which was supposed to be completed last year, was extended to give auditors time to examine the valuation of MASwings’s assets submitted by the Sarawak government and MAG.
