Sungai Buloh police chief Hafiz Nor said an investigation paper had been opened after the victim, 39, lodged a report at 2.19pm today, Sinar Harian reported.
Hafiz said the man had parked his car at a parking lot in the area at about 10.17am to shoot a TikTok video nearby. He found the car ablaze when he returned at 1.05pm.
“The fire and rescue department’s forensic unit is also carrying out their own investigation to determine the cause of the fire,” he said.
He added that police are investigating the case under Section 435 of the Penal Code for arson, which carries a jail term of up to 14 years and a fine, upon conviction.
