PETALING JAYA:
A 54-year-old Chinese national has been arrested by police for trying to steal the credit card of an Australian passenger during a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Penang today.

Barat Daya police chief Sazalee Adam said the 44-year-old Australian tourist had lodged a police report as soon as the plane touched down at Bayan Lepas airport.

Police then arrested the man from China. He will be taken to the Balik Pulau magistrates’ court tomorrow for a remand hearing, Sazalee said according to Bernama.

Police suspect that the man is a member of a syndicate carrying out thefts on commercial flights. Three other Chinese nationals from Hunan, who were part of the ring, were arrested in November and December and have been charged in court.

Sazalee advised air travellers to exercise caution and to keep their valuables close to them while in the plane.
