The order compels Azri, better known as Papagomo, to remove several allegedly defamatory postings he made about the IGP from social media.
Judicial Commissioner Gan Techiong, who previously issued an ex-parte order with a 21-day validity, extended it until the disposal of the suit after hearing submissions from Razarudin’s counsel S Raam Kumar.
He also ordered Azri to pay Razarudin RM10,000 in costs.
Earlier, Raam told the court that the ex-parte order, issued on Dec 31, was served personally on Azri on Jan 3.
He said that although Azri was informed of today’s hearing date, neither he nor his lawyer was present.
Gan noted that solicitors from the Law Practice of Rafique had entered appearance for Azri only this morning.
The judge had waited for nearly an hour for the firm’s lawyers to be present before commencing proceedings.
Raam said he had attempted to call the law firm 10 times but did not receive a response.
When asked to proceed with his submissions, Raam said he would rely on the submissions he had made at the ex-parte hearing.
“The defendant’s vicious attack was on a senior civil servant and made to tarnish my client’s reputation and the police force,” he added.
He said Azri had used crass language to claim that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the finance minister, had used the police and the Inland Revenue Board to investigate the defendant for money laundering and violating tax laws, respectively.
Raam said Azri’s failure to be present in court, either personally or through counsel, to contest the application showed he was not bothered to do so.
Razarudin filed the suit against Azri – a former Umno Youth exco member – on Dec 26 over statements made in videos posted on YouTube and TikTok and shared across various other social media platforms.
Razarudin claims he was described in these videos in derogatory terms and falsely linked to Anwar.
He is seeking general, special, aggravated and exemplary damages and an injunction to prevent Azri from making or republishing such statements, either by himself or through persons associated with him.
Razarudin also wants Azri to apologise and withdraw his allegedly defamatory statements from all social media accounts as well as in the mass and online media, wherever they have been published.
