Photographer to be charged tomorrow over assault on fashion duo

The 30-year-old has been remanded for two days, says Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Jaafar.

PETALING JAYA:
A 30-year-old photographer is expected to be charged in court tomorrow for allegedly assaulting two fashion designers during an event held at a hotel here yesterday.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Jaafar said the duo sustained injuries to their faces after the suspect attacked them with his camera during the event.

“The police arrested the suspect at the scene and seized a camera believed to have been used as a weapon in the incident,” he said in a statement.

The fashion designers who were attacked were Razman Din and Razmi Rahman of Razman Razmi, known for their handmade suits and bespoke tailoring.

Shahrulnizam said based on the initial investigation, the attack could be over a personal matter.

The suspect has been remanded for two days until tomorrow and will be charged at the magistrates’ court here.

The case is being investigated under Section 342 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.

Footage of the attack had previously circulated on social media, showing cosmetics mogul Hasmiza Othman, better known as Vida, screaming moments after witnessing the incident.
