PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested three foreign nationals in their investigations into the discovery of the bodies of a woman and newborn baby boy by the roadside in Kulai, Johor, earlier this week.

Kulai police chief Tan Seng Lee said the trio, aged between 42 and 53, were arrested in Kulai and Johor Bahru between 2.30pm and 4.30pm yesterday, Berita Harian reported.

“We also seized four mobile phones, a car, a mattress and a mat,” he said in a statement.

Tan also said the trio had been remanded for three days starting today, for investigations under Section 316 of the Penal Code, which pertains to causing the death of an unborn child.

On Tuesday, it was reported that a passerby found the body of the woman holding the baby, with the umbilical cord still attached to the mother.

Tan was reported as saying that no external injuries were found on both bodies.

He said the autopsy on the bodies was completed yesterday, but the cause of death is still pending laboratory results.

Tan urged the public to refrain from speculating on the case as it could interfere with the investigation.
