Man arrested for throwing metal chain at car windscreen

A driver had reported that a motorcyclist suddenly swung the item at her front windscreen when she was driving on Jalan Penang in George Town.

Police have arrested a man for allegedly throwing a metal chain on the windscreen of a car on Jalan Penang, George Town, on Wednesday.

Timur Laut deputy police chief Lee Swee Sake said they received a report from the driver of the car, a 36-year-old woman, at about 1.50pm.

“According to the woman, an unknown motorcyclist suddenly swung a metal chain at her front car windscreen when she was driving,” Bernama quoted him as saying in a statement today.

He said the man, aged 33, was arrested on Jalan Padang Tembak on the same day.

Police seized a metal chain and other items from the factory worker, who has a criminal record for two offences.

The suspect has been remanded until Dec 28 to assist with the investigation under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief.

Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying said in a Facebook post that she had contacted the police and requested increased patrols in the area to ensure public safety.
