Cops arrest duo for evading roadblock, seize drugs after chase

The suspects, who had prior convictions, led police on a 30-minute chase.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Two men attempting to evade a police roadblock along the Damansara-Puchong Expressway by driving against traffic were arrested following a 35km chase yesterday.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shahrulnizam Ja’afar said police chased a car driven by the two suspects at about 11.30am after they attempted to ram a police MPV and a motorcycle ridden by a member of the public.

He said the suspects, aged 30 and 29, were detained on Jalan PJU1a/1 in Ara Damansara after a 30-minute chase.

“A quantity of drugs believed to be methamphetamine weighing 12.87gm was found in their car, along with a weapon believed to be an electric shock-wave device (stun gun).

“The first suspect, who was driving the vehicle, has 11  convictions for criminal and five narcotics-related cases, while the second suspect has one conviction,” he said in a statement today.

The case is being investigated for several offences, including attempted murder, speeding, and possession of drugs.
