The delegation was led by the centre’s acting CEO, Tazudin Mohtar. He was accompanied by 10 officers from the centre and the Sarawak Islamic Council, The Borneo Post reported.

Tazudin said the visit was aimed at fostering goodwill and strengthening interfaith relations.

They also presented gifts to Danald Jute, the bishop of the Anglican Church in Sarawak and Brunei, and Simon Poh, the Roman Catholic Archbishop in Kuching.

“Sarawak, being a multicultural, multiracial and multireligious society, continues to maintain its harmony and unity,” Tazudin was quoted as saying after the visit.

He said “open houses” traditionally held during the festivities highlighted the harmony and unity enjoyed by people of diverse backgrounds.

“This concept (of open houses) also enables Sarawakians to foster closer relationships and improve understanding and harmony. It is also an opportunity to catch up with one another,” he said.
