Cops launch probe after body found in Ampang Jaya drain

PETALING JAYA:
Police have launched an investigation after the body of a man was found in a drain at Jalan Mewah 3/5, Pandan Mewah, in Ampang.

Ampang Jaya police chief Azam Ismail said the Pandan Indah police station received information from a member of the public about the discovery of the body last night, at around 11.55pm.

“The deceased, a 58-year-old local man, was found face down in a water-filled drain,” he said in a statement.

He added that Bukit Aman’s forensics team found signs of injury on the deceased’s face and head.

Azam said the body had been sent to Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM in Cheras for a post-mortem.

The case has been classified as sudden death, he added.
