PETALING JAYA:
Police have arrested a man suspected of causing a fire at the Kuang low-cost housing scheme in Sungai Buloh yesterday.

Sungai Buloh police chief Hafiz Nor said the fire also destroyed the man’s own house, Bernama reported.

The 34-year-old man was arrested after the incident at 7.06pm and has been remanded until Dec 4.

Hafiz believed the fire spread from the man’s house.

“No casualties have been reported. The case is being investigated for mischief caused by fire.”

Police have yet to establish the man’s motive.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said three of the houses were destroyed while the other two were only slightly damaged.

He said a firefighter from the Batu Arang station was injured during the operation and was taken to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment. He remains in a stable condition.
