PETALING JAYA:
PKR has postponed its national congress, originally scheduled for Dec 14-16 in Johor, due to the widespread floods in several states.

The party’s communications chief, Fahmi Fadzil, announced the postponement today. He said a special congress will take place in a hybrid format to amend the party’s constitution.

PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said the special congress will be held in Selangor on Dec 15. “The venue will be announced soon,” she said this evening.

She said the decision to postpone the national congress was made to safeguard the welfare of its members and volunteers who are enduring the floods.

“We are committed to playing an active role in assisting the victims via various initiatives,” she said.

The floods in several states have worsened, with the number of evacuees rising to 142,684 this evening. They are currently being placed in 715 relief centres.
