
He said the General Operations Force and military personnel have been deployed, while equipment from the military, police, fire department and civil defence have been used.
“Even the fishermen’s association has offered to deploy their fishing boats for the interior areas,” he said.
“The district with the most victims so far is Pasir Mas, where Rantau Panjang is located, followed by Tumpat and Kota Bharu,” Zahid said after a visit to flood relief centres.
He said more than 7,000 personnel have been mobilised to assist flood victims in the state over the past eight days.
Zahid said military vehicles will be used to transport students to sit for the SPM examination in early December.
SPM candidates whose schools have been hit by floods can sit for the examination at any designated SPM exam centre, education minister Fadhlina Sidek said.
She said the SPM examination will proceed as usual for all, including candidates in flood-affected states, to prevent any candidate from missing out on the exams.
