
The social welfare department’s disaster info portal showed that Kelantan recorded the highest number of evacuees, in Pasir Mas (22,156), Tumpat (8,434), Kota Bharu (5,944), Kuala Krai (5,253), Tanah Merah (4,366), and Bachok (2,844).
Other districts affected by the disaster were Pasir Puteh (4,956), Machang (4,395), Jeli (838), and Gua Musang (46), Bernama reported.
The irrigation and drainage department said several major rivers in the state recorded readings exceeding the danger level at 8am, including Sungai Lanas, Sungai Kelantan, Sungai Golok, and Sungai Sokor.
In Terengganu, 20,911 people from 5,916 families were taking shelter at 232 PPS as of 8am compared to 17,762 people at 8pm yesterday.
The Terengganu disaster management committee reported Besut as having the highest number of victims at 9,338, followed by Hulu Terengganu (4,333), Setiu (4,255), Kemaman (1,534), Dungun (709), Marang (668), and Kuala Nerus (74).
The InfoBanjir portal showed that water level readings at nine stations in the state were at danger levels, six of which were in Setiu, including Sungai Nerus in Kampung Langkap and Sungai Setiu in Jambatan Permaisuri and Kampung Bukit.
In Kedah, the number of flood victims reached 4,378 people from 1,432 families as of this morning compared to 2,210 people from 717 families last night.
Kedah civil defence force deputy director Suhaimi Zain said the victims across five districts – Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, and Sik – had been placed at 34 PPS.
He said Kubang Pasu recorded the highest number of victims with 1,708 people from 600 families at 13 PPS, followed by Padang Terap with 1,145 victims.
“Meanwhile in Kota Setar, 735 people from 230 families were placed at three PPS, while in Pokok Sena there were 429 victims and Sik, 361,” he said in a statement.
The total number of flood victims also rose in Perlis with 488 people from 145 families at PPS as of 8am this morning compared to 415 people from 125 families last night.
In Perak, the state disaster management committee secretariat said that a PPS had been opened at 11pm last night, bringing the total number operating as of this morning to three.
A total of 20 victims from seven families were placed at SK Parit Haji Aman in Kerian, while 49 victims from 15 families were placed at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Klah Baru, Batang Padang.
In Negeri Sembilan, a total of 291 victims from 100 families had been placed at eight PPS in Kuala Pilah and Tampin as of 8.30am.
