PETALING JAYA:
The investigation paper into the acid attack on national footballer Faisal Halim in May has been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further instructions, Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department said today.

The department said the investigation process is ongoing, Berita Harian reported.

Earlier this afternoon, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain was quoted as saying the investigation into the acid attack in May had not been closed.

Although no new developments have been reported for months, Razarudin said the probe had not been stopped and the police were still on the lookout for more leads that would assist the investigation.

He said 23 people had given their statements and three suspects were arrested, but there was no evidence linking them to the attack.

Faisal, a winger for Selangor FC, suffered fourth-degree burns from the acid attack on May 5 and had to undergo four surgeries to treat his burns.

He was discharged from hospital on May 25 but had at one point considered hanging up his boots. He has since returned to action with the football club.
