Deputy inspector-general of police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said that in the same period, 27 police officers have been charged in court, while 13 were convicted.
“In that period, Bukit Aman’s integrity and standards compliance department also opened 1,557 disciplinary investigation papers and 1,118 disciplinary inquiry papers against officers for breaking various rules,” he said at Bukit Aman here today.
Ayob urged the heads of police teams at all levels to take stern action against anyone involved in corruption and abuse of power, regardless of rank and position.
“As leaders, let’s not only take action against low-ranking police officers. There should be no double standards in acting against officers involved in misconduct,” he said.
