PETALING JAYA:
Police are investigating an altercation between an airline employee and a passenger at KLIA Terminal 1 last Sunday.

The incident was captured in a viral video.

KLIA police chief Azman Shari’at said the airline employee, who sustained minor injuries, filed a report the same day.

“An investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the airline employee and a passenger,” he said in a statement.

“The situation escalated into a physical altercation between the two due to a delay in the check-in process.”

Azman said the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code, pertaining to voluntarily causing hurt.

He also warned the public against spreading false or inaccurate information about the incident.

“Action can be taken under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he said.

In the 31-second viral video, a man could be seen punching another individual near the check-in counters at the airport, while several bystanders attempt to break up the fight.
