PETALING JAYA:
Sabah has unveiled its highest ever budget today with RM6.42 billion allocated for 2025, with the state government expecting a surplus of RM24.08 million.

State finance minister Masidi Manjun said Sabah projects to collect RM6.44 billion in revenue next year, The Borneo Post reported.

“The 2025 state budget is anchored on the concept of ‘pomogunan do sogigisom’, a Dusun phrase meaning sustainable development through unity,” he was quoted as saying in the Sabah assembly.

Under the budget, Sabah has allocated RM2.6 billion to upgrade various infrastructure and utilities, particularly those involving the supply of water and electricity, as well as roads.

The state works ministry has been allocated RM1.34 billion, while RM729.79 million was earmarked for the Sabah water department.

For the water department, Masidi said its funds would be used for short-term solutions to the state’s long-standing water woes.

“As part of the medium and long-term strategies, RM174.86 million will be allocated through a federal soft loan next year,” he said, according to Bernama.
