Kapit PKR chief Khusyairy Pangkas said such a move was premature as the party’s top leadership had not decided on the matter yet.
Khusyairy also told FMT that rallying division leaders to sign a letter opposing the proposal was akin to sowing discord within PKR.

“Don’t preempt the leadership,” he said, adding that unity within the Anwar Ibrahim-led party was crucial to safeguard its future and success.
“It is not their place to dictate the direction of the party. Any act of rebellion or internal sabotage will only weaken us,” he said, and called for constructive dialogue to be held internally via official channels.
Khusyairy also said party members must trust the top leadership’s decisions.
“Everyone has a role to play, but there is a proper way to do it. PKR members should prioritise the party’s collective goals over their personal agenda,” he added.
Yesterday, in an undated letter sighted by FMT, a division chief claimed the proposed change to the voting mechanism would limit PKR members’ voting rights, leading to a decline in grassroots support and an exodus of members.
The leader sent out the letter to fellow leaders in hopes of getting them to endorse it, saying every PKR member deserves the right to vote for their leaders at each level.
It is understood that a senior PKR member has lodged a formal complaint against the division leader for inciting others to sign the letter.
Earlier today, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil maintained that the party had not decided whether it would change its voting mechanism, though discussions had been held.
Fahmi said PKR would continue to prioritise the people’s interests in every decision that it made.
