Selangor state assembly member Michelle Ng, who finished 10th in the vote for the state leadership, said she respected the outcome of the convention and trusted the wisdom of the grassroots members.
Gobind, who is Damansara MP and digital minister, received 675 votes to finish in 16th place.
Ng recounted how Gobind took her on board as a young inexperienced lawyer and entrusted her with complex litigation cases. “He’s my moral compass,” she said in a Facebook post.
She said her respect for Gobind’s leadership went beyond their legal work together, and praised him for his relentless work ethic.
“As digital minister, I know he wakes up at 5am every day to stay ahead of the day’s work. And let me tell you, setting up an entirely new ministry from scratch is no small feat!” she said.
“After returning from Parliament at 5pm, he will have a long line of people waiting for him at the office. Yet he never tires, and will patiently listen to all issues raised, however big or small.”
