PETALING JAYA:
Deputy prime minister Fadillah Yusof has expressed his condolences to the family of Macswyzer Richard Riot, who died yesterday aged 47.

In a Facebook post today, Fadillah said the death of Macswyzer was a profound loss to the latter’s family, party and Gabungan Parti Sarawak.

“I hope the family finds strength in facing this difficult time,” he said.

Macswyzer died at Sarawak General Hospital at midnight, having previously been diagnosed with cancer.

The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) deputy youth chief and Serian SUPP youth chief was the youngest son of Serian MP and SUPP deputy president Richard Riot Jaem.

Besides politics, Macswyzer was also a passionate football player and played for Serian-based football club Marr SC.

He also played a crucial role in developing the Serian Division Football Association with his late brother, McAlister Richard Riot, who served as Serian FA’s first president.

The two brothers played an important part in nurturing young talents and promoting football in the region.
