No major upsets as bigwigs elected into Bersatu Supreme Council

Dr Yadzil Yaakub, who faced calls to resign as Melaka Bersatu chief, made it into the party’s top leadership. Also elected was Lim Ting Khai, a Sabahan.

Some of the more prominent names who failed to make it into the Bersatu Supreme Council were Badrul Hisham Shaharin, otherwise known as Chegubard, and former minister Redzuan Yusof.
PETALING JAYA:
There were no major upsets in the election for Bersatu’s 20-member Supreme Council with the bigwigs among the 80 candidates in contention elected to the party’s top leadership.

Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal, Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan, Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah, Hulu Terengganu MP Rosol Wahid and Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz were all elected to the top leadership.

Former Johor menteri besar Dr Sahruddin Jamal and Taman Medan assemblyman Dr Afif Bahardin were also elected into the Supreme Council.

Dr Yadzil Yaakub, who recently faced calls to step down as Melaka Bersatu chief and saw his Jasin division suspended, also made it into the party’s top leadership.

Lim Ting Khai, a Sabahan from Tawau Bersatu, was also elected as a Bersatu Supreme Council member.
