Fast-food worker pleads guilty to attempted murder, theft

The sessions court has denied Wan Azhar Azman bail and fixed Dec 2 for sentencing.

KUALA LUMPUR:
A 20-year-old man pleaded guilty at the sessions court here to attempted murder after he caused a man to suffer serious injuries through reckless driving last month.

According to the charge sheet, fast-food restaurant worker Wan Azhar Azman drove a Honda Civic in a dangerous manner with Jalil Iskandar clinging onto the car’s front bonnet.

Jalil suffered serious injuries after being thrown off the car during the Oct 23 incident at Precinct 15, Putrajaya.

Wan Azhar also pleaded guilty to stealing the car just before the incident.

He faces a jail term of up to 20 years for the attempted murder charge, and a jail term of between one and seven years for car theft, for which he will also be fined.

Judge Azrul Darus denied Wan Azhar bail and fixed Dec 2 for sentencing.

The court also ordered the social welfare department (JKM) to produce a report for Wan Azhar as he is a young offender.
