Sabah deports 24 Chinese nationals for overstaying

The foreigners were being held at the Tawau immigration depot after staying in Malaysia following the expiration of their visitor passes.

PETALING JAYA:
The Sabah immigration department has deported 24 Chinese nationals for overstaying, sending them back yesterday via a direct flight from Tawau to Guangzhou.

Its director Sitti Saleha Habib Yussof said the foreigners, aged between 31 and 64, were detained at the Tawau immigration depot after being found guilty of breaching Section 15(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

The section deals with foreigners staying in Malaysia following the expiration of their visitor passes.

Sitti Saleha said a total of 6,873 people had been deported from Sabah from January to October, including 1,855 Indonesians, 88 Pakistanis, 39 Vietnamese and 34 Chinese, Bernama reported.
