KUALA LUMPUR:
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has rejected claims that procedures were not followed in awarding a food supply contract for the Malaysian Armed Forces.

The allegations were made by Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (PN-Pasir Puteh) when debating the Supply Bill 2025 in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Zawawi claimed that a company belonging to Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal (PN-Bukit Gantang) secured the contract due to his support for Anwar.

He insisted that he possessed WhatsApp messages exchanged between Syed Hussin and a government official as evidence.

Anwar said during Prime Minister’s Question Time today that Zawawi’s claims were untrue because he personally signed off on the contracts.

“Where did you hear this? From TikTok? And the other source, WhatsApp? This is not referring to any facts,” he said.

“When talking in the name of Islam, you refer to the Quran, but when you are criticising, you don’t care.”

Anwar, who is also the finance minister, warned against making unsubstantiated claims without relying on facts.
