RMAF delivers boats, life-saving equipment in Philippines

PETALING JAYA:
A helicopter of the Royal Malaysian Air Force has transported inflatable boats and life-saving equipment on the first day of its disaster relief mission in the Philippines.

The air force said the supplies are for use in remote areas and around the city of Legazpi in Bicol province, which has been affected by severe flooding due to tropical storm Trami.

The Philippine air force and Republic of Singapore air force also took part in relief missions.

The tropical storm has left at least 110 people dead, afte causing over half a million people to flee their homes. At least 42 people remain missing, according to the Philippines national disaster agency.

The tropical storm made landfall near Danang, Vietnam, today, after moving west across the South China Sea from the Philippines.
