PETALING JAYA: An eatery in Sungai Petani, Kedah, has been shut down by the state health department after a customer found maggots in their food on Tuesday.
In a statement, Kedah health director Dr Ismuni Bohari said health officers had gone to the eatery to verify the complaints which had gone viral online.
“The Kuala Muda health office carried out further investigations yesterday and found that the premises had failed to comply with hygiene requirements set out under the Food Hygiene Regulations 2009 and Food Act 1983.
“The eatery was issued a compound and a closure order under Section 11 of the Food Act. The premises will be checked again after the owner takes corrective measures to comply with hygiene standards,” he said.
