PETALING JAYA:
A married couple have been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on suspicion of submitting over RM650,000 in false claims to Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) over the supply of diesel.

The couple, a former CEO and a former executive director of a private company in their 60s and 50s, were detained after giving a statement at the Sabah MACC headquarters this morning.

Harian Metro quoted an MACC source as saying the couple made 15 false claims to SESB in 2013, related to a contract to supply diesel for electricity generator sets meant for their company.

“The diesel supplied did not match the claims they made,” said the source.

Sabah MACC director S Karunanithy confirmed their arrests and said the couple is being probed under Section 471 of the Penal Code for using forged documents.

Karunanithy added that the suspects would be charged in the Tawau special corruption court on Thursday.
