Ampang council, JPS to repair collapsed riverbank

PETALING JAYA:
The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) and the irrigation and drainage department (JPS) will carry out further repairs to the riverbank structure at Taman Lembah Maju, Ampang, near here that collapsed yesterday.

MPAJ said following the incident, its rapid action team (Pantas) immediately went to the area to control traffic.

They also used tow trucks to pull out two vehicles that had almost fallen off a slope, Bernama reported.

MPAJ advised residents in Ampang to be alert and be prepared to face any kind of disaster during this transition season before the onset of the monsoon season, which will see heavy rain and strong winds.

It advised them to contact MPAJ’s Pantas unit at 03-42857333 in case of emergencies.

Continuous heavy rain had caused the riverbank to collapse.

Selangor fire and rescue department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said there were no casualties in the incident that took place at 7pm.
