Year 6 pupil dies after fainting at school assembly

Police say the 12-year-old died at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang after being taken there for treatment.

A Year 6 pupil died after fainting during an assembly at a school in Kapar, Klang, yesterday.

Klang Utara police chief S Vijaya Rao said the 12-year-old was confirmed dead at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang after being taken there for follow-up treatment.

“The victim was reported to have fainted at about 8.30am during an assembly at the school before being taken to HTAR for follow-up treatment. However, the victim was later confirmed dead at the hospital,” he said.

He said the autopsy did not find any criminal elements and the case has been classified as sudden death pending a laboratory investigation.
