PETALING JAYA:
A housewife has been remanded for four days to assist in the investigation into an accident yesterday in which three students from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Dungun were killed and one seriously injured.

Magistrate Nur Amira Fatihah Osman issued the remand order at the Kuala Terengganu court complex this morning, Bernama reported.

It said the woman, who has three children, appeared to be in a confused state.

Terengganu deputy police chief Wan Rukman Wan Hassan said the accident occurred in front of the university at about 7.35pm when a car driven by the woman collided with two motorcycles carrying the four students.

Wan Rukman said the students were returning to campus after dinner.

Police said their preliminary investigation showed that the suspect may be mentally unstable.

The university identified the three victims as Muhammad Akmal Md Tukirin, 25, from Muar, Johor; Ku Adib Ku Azmi, 20, from Sungai Buloh, Selangor; and Khairil Anwar Jamaludin, 20, from Ampang, Selangor.

Ammar Danish Mohd. Ridhuan, 20, suffered injuries to his waist and is receiving treatment at Dungun Hospital.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
