Johor police chief M Kumar said the persons arrested comprise two foreigners and a local, aged between 39 and 70.
He said the trio were arrested at a hotel in Kota Tinggi as part of an investigation into their conduct during the 2024 Pan Asia International Run.
“Police also seized accessories believed to have been worn during the run, including a red sari, a red skirt, three silver cardboard pieces, and a silver replica spear,” he said in a statement.
He added that preliminary investigations revealed the actions of the three suspects were done independently and had nothing to do with the event organisers.
“Urine tests showed all suspects were negative for drugs, and they have no prior criminal records,” Kumar said.
The case is being investigated under Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 for insulting behaviour and Section 294 of the Penal Code for committing obscene acts in public.
Yesterday, Johor menteri besar Onn Hafiz Ghazi asked the police to investigate a run in which foreigners allegedly participated while “half-naked” and promoting an LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) agenda.
He said the state government did not organise the run, nor did it issue any permission for such an event to be held.
