Pictures of Suhaizan taking part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony had drawn sarcastic jibes from social media users.
According to Harian Metro, Suhaizan said the ceremony was done at the school’s request, and he did not want to disappoint them.
The Amanah MP said the school requested his help to provide the steel covers following multiple cases of students falling into the drains.
“Drain covers for all four of the school’s blocks were supplied through allocations from my office. The school then invited me to take a look at the drain covers that were supplied.
“The ceremony was at the request of the school, which wanted to convey its gratitude for the assistance. I attended (and went ahead with the ceremony) to fulfil the school’s request and be a good guest,” he was quoted as saying.
