The father of newly elected assemblyman Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah died two weeks ago, days after nominations for the Mahkota by-election.

The first order of business tomorrow for newly elected Mahkota assemblyman Syed Hussien Syed Abdullah will be to visit the grave of his late father, who died just four days after nominations for the by-election.

Syed Hussien, the Kluang Umno Youth chief, said he will go to the Kampung Melayu Muslim cemetery first thing in the morning to share the news about his election victory.

“I want to tell my dad that I did it, thanks to the cooperation of our team,” he told reporters at Dewan Jubli Intan Sultan Ibrahim here after being announced as the winner of the by-election with a whopping majority of 20,648 votes.

His father, Syed Abdullah Syed Hamid, died in hospital in Kluang on Sept 10, days after being put in an induced coma. Syed Hussien had previously revealed that his father was a cancer survivor.
