The EAIC also recommended that a warning letter be issued.
The commission said in a statement that it had investigated the head of the agency’s unit in Sik, Kedah, following a complaint that the officer failed to record and submit the drug test results of a person who tested positive for methamphetamine.
The report was submitted to the individual’s employer after a delay of 18 months.
The officer also did not ensure that the Urine Sample Submission Record Book was kept in a proper and organised manner during his time in Kedah.
“The officer was alleged to have protected an individual who had tested positive for drugs,” the commission said.
The EAIC said two officers who were tasked with managing the submission and retrieval of the urine samples had failed to update the records.
The agency was also advised to issue the two officers a warning.
