
Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim finished second with 1,237 votes while former Penang executive councillor Yeoh Soon Hin was third with 1,225.
Tanjong MP Lim Hui Ying, who was widely tipped to win the state party polls together with Sim, garnered 827 votes, clinching the 12th spot.
The delegates at today’s Penang DAP convention voted for 15 members to make up the Penang DAP committee. They will then decide among themselves who should be appointed chairman and hold other important posts.

The top five are dominated by significantly younger men, aged between 41 and 48, with Ramkarpal being the oldest.
Ramkarpal made a significant gain compared to his 2021 results, during which he secured 439 votes. However, only 798 delegates voted in 2021 compared to today’s 1,452 delegates.
Hui Ying, who had been expected to perform well, saw a decline in support after dropping from fourth place in 2021 to 12th place this year.
A total 2,093 ballots were issued today, but only 1,452 delegates, or 69.3%, exercised their right to vote.
Returning officer Wong Shu Qi said 1,367 ballots were valid while 85 were spoilt.
